Abstract
COVID-19 is an infectious disease that spreads to many countries, including Indonesia. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess factors associated with preventive behavior against COVID-19 among the adult population in Kediri City, Indonesia. A total of 297 respondents aged 18 years or older living in Mojoroto district, City district and Pesantren district were recruited into this study. Possible factors associated with preventive behavior were assessed using structured questionnaires consisting of six dimensions; socio-demography, knowledge, perception, enabling factors, reinforcing factors and environmental conditions. The associations between the variables were analyzed by using Chi-square test. The results indicated a significant association between level of education (p = 0.001), knowledge (p = 0.016), perception (p = 0.019), enabling factors (p = 0.006), reinforcing factors (p = 0.001), environmental conditions (p = 0.001), and preventive behavior. However, age, gender, marital status, job, income, and types of health coverage showed no association. IMPLICATION OF THESIS: This study suggested that policymakers should provide knowledge and strengthen the societies to follow the health protocols. This can support the societies to raise awareness on preventive behavior against COVID-19. Moreover, further studies should focus in providing knowledge to further explore factors associated with preventive behaviors.
