Abstract
Background: Thailand has a large Buddhist population, and beliefs vary from person to person and across different societies. Objective: This study aimed to explore the persistence of religious and supernatural belief systems among Thai Buddhists in an increasingly digitized society. Methodology: This investigation employed a qualitative approach, primarily using philosophical inquiry and content analysis alongside descriptive methods, to systematically examine the contemporary coexistence of traditional Buddhist cosmology with recent scientific advancements and technological innovations within Thailand's cultural context. Result: The investigation documents a complex, multilayered faith landscape in contemporary Thailand, characterized by the significant coexistence of formal Buddhist doctrine centered on the Triple Gem (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha) and diverse contextual practices. These contextual elements include astrological divination, veneration of sacred objects, ritual magic, and talismanic protection. Despite rapid socioeconomic transformation, these documented practices exhibit remarkable continuity across historical periods. Conclusion: Thai Buddhists' beliefs can coexist with the advancement of Science and Technology in the Digital Era Unique contribution: This work makes a significant contribution to our understanding of how religious beliefs adapt and persist within evolving cultural frameworks, suggesting that modernisation does not necessarily diminish spiritual practices but may transform their expression and social significance.
