© 2018 Elsevier Inc. Background: Little is known regarding the relationship between medication adherence and quality of life in heart failure patients. We therefore aimed to examine the nature of relationship between medication adherence and quality of life. Methods: A prospective, cross-sectional study of chronic heart failure patients with reduced ejection fraction was performed at a tertiary-care, university hospital in Thailand. Quality of life and medication adherence were assessed using the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ) and Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8), respectively. Relationship of MLHFQ and MMAS-8 were examined using Spearman's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis for covariates adjustment. Results: Among 180 patients, 38.3%, 50.0% and 11.7% were found to have high, medium and poor adherence, respectively. For quality of life, the overall median score on the MLHFQ was relatively low. A positive relationship was identified between medication adherence and quality of life. After covariate adjustment, medication adherence was found to have the strongest relationship with quality of life, compared to other covariates. Conclusions: Medication adherence has a small and positive relationship with quality of life among heart failure patients
