Abstract
This study offers a detailed pedagogical guide on legit and belt singing style, which are two prominent approaches in musical theater. It also includes original voice exercises that utilize for developing the vocal technique. The knowledge gained will be integrated in the analyses of the two selected songs, where technical and musical issues will be thoroughly addressed and solved. The two selected songs are The Sound of Music and I Dreamed a Dream. They are selections from the researcher's Graduate Recital given at MACM Hall, College of Music, Mahidol University on May 12, 2015. Legit vocal style refers to the sound transitions from chest to head much like classical singing that is smooth, legato, very floating in the sound, consistent vibrato, tall and round vowels and balanced tone quality. The sound should be ringing with a high register and bright forward sound. Belt vocal style is the style that makes the lyrics more speech base and clearly understood. In the old traditional belt, belting is more in chest register, while in the contemporary song, belting technique was rounder and use both head register and chest register mix together.
สารนิพนธ์เล่มนี้นำเสนอแนวทางการขับร้องและการสอนขับร้องละครเพลงในสไตล์ legit และ belt ซึ่งเป็นสองเทคนิคที่สำคัญสำหรับบทบาทโซปราโนในละครเพลง โดยมีแบบฝึกหัดเสียงเพื่อพัฒนาเทคนิคการขับร้อง และแนวทางการสอนขับร้องในเพลงที่เลือกมาจำนวนสองเพลง คือ เพลง The Sound of Music และเพลง I Dreamed a Dream. บทเพลงที่นำมาเป็นแนวทางการสอนในสารนิพนธ์นี้ได้เลือกมาจากการแสดงเดี่ยว เมื่อวันที่ 12 พฤษภาคม 2558 จัดขึ้น ณ หอแสดงดนตรี วิทยาลัยดุริยางคศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล การขับร้องแบบเลอจิทเป็นการร้องเชื่อมเสียงอย่างต่อเนื่อง เชื่อมกัน มีการสั่นสะเทือนของเสียง ออกเสียงรูปสระในลักษณะเสียงตั้ง โดยมีความกังวาลของเสียงแบบพุ่งไปด้านหน้า เช่น ในเพลง The Sound of Music ส่วนการขับร้องแบบเบลท์นั้นได้รับอิทธิพลมาจากยุคละครเพลงแบบแจ๊ส ในอดีตการขับร้องแบบเบลท์ จะใช้ Chest Register เป็นหลัก แต่สมัยใหม่นั้นจะมีการผสมผสานระหว่าง Chest Register และ Head Register ซึ่งเรียกว่า Mix Belt เพลงที่เลือกเป็นตัวอย่างในการประยุกต์ใช้คือเพลง I Dreamed a Dream ซึ่งใช้เสียงแบบเบลท์ สารนิพนธ์จะกล่าวถึงเทคนิคต่างๆในการขับร้องทั้งสองสไตล์ แนวทางการฝึกฝนด้วยแบบฝึกหัดเสียง และแนวทางการสอน โดยนำเทคนิคและแบบฝึกหัดเสียงมาประยุกต์ใช้ในบทเพลงตัวอย่างสองเพลง เพื่อให้ผู้ที่ศึกษาได้ใช้เป็นแนวทางในการขับร้องและการสอนต่อไป
