Clinical pictures of acute hemolysis in G 6 PD Mahidol: report on 10 patients
Clinical pictures of acute hemolysis in 10 patients with G 6 PD Mahidol are described. One patient had very severe hemolysis and renal failure requiring peritoneal dialysis. Four patients had acute hemolytic anemia with hemoglobinuria and retention of nitrogenous waste products. Hemolytic anemia with hemoglobinuria but without evidence of nitrogenous waste product retention was found in 2 patients. One patient had hemolytic anemia and jaundice without hemoglobinuria, and 2 patients had hemolytic jaundice. On the average, hemolytic crisis in G 6 PD Mahidol is milder than that in G 6 PD Union (Thai) and G 6 PD Canton which are also common in Thailand.
