Abstract
The efficacy of albendazone, mebendazone and diethylcarbamazine on Trichinella spiralis in mice were treated with 50 mg/kg body weight for 3 consecutive days on the beginning of 2nd.day, 10th.day, 21st.day and 28th.day. After 35-42 days infected mice were examined for trichinella larvae. Mebendazone and albendazone eliminated worms in the intestines of mice 99.8% and 99.95% respectively while diethylcarbamazine could not induce any effects to the worms. For the invasive phase, the effect of mebendazone and diethylcarbamazine were nearly the same (76% and 73% respectively) but albendazole showed 36% of larvae decreased. Mebendazole reduced the numbers of the larvae on entering musculature phase and encysted larvae in the muscle 97.9% and 96.7% respectively. Albendazole and diethylcarbamazine decreased the larvae in muscle on entering muscularture phase 50.6% and 16% respectively. For musculature phase albendazole reduced the encysted larvae in muscle 63.8% but diethylcarbamazine could not eliminate the encysted larvae. However mice showed some side effect after treated with mebendazole and albendazole for musculature phase but side effect was subside after 2-3 days following the first day of administration.
