การแปลภาษาเพศหญิงในบทบรรยายใต้ภาพเรื่อง Sex and the city : the movie , Sex and the city 2 และ How to be single

Abstract

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ เป็นการศึกษาการแปลภาษาเพศหญิงที่ปรากฏในบทบรรยายภาพยนตร์ภาษาอังกฤษ 3 เรื่อง คือ "Sex and the City: the Movie" (2008), "Sex and the City 2" (2010) และ "How To Be Single" (2016) โดยผู้วิจัยใช้แนวคิดเรื่องภาษาเพศหญิงของโรบิน เลคอฟ (1975) แมรี่ ริชชี่ คีย์ (1996) และ จูเลีย ที วูด (2011) ในการคัดเลือกข้อมูล และใช้แนวคิดเรื่องการแปลของยูจีน ไนดา (1964) และ สัญฉวี สายบัว (2553) ในการวิเคราะห์กลวิธีการแปล จากการศึกษาพบลักษณะการใช้ภาษาเพศหญิงในบทบรรยายภาพยนตร์ภาษาอังกฤษ คือ การใช้วงคำศัพท์เฉพาะด้านแฟชั่นและความงาม การใช้การสนทนาแบบเกื้อหนุน (cooperative style) และการตอบสนองสั้น ๆ ในการสนทนา (minimal reaction) การใช้คำหรือรูปแบบประโยค hedging การใช้รูปแบบประโยคคำถามต่อท้าย (tag question) การใช้คำวิเศษณ์ช่วยเพิ่มหรือลดความ (intensifying adverbs) การใช้คำคุณศัพท์ที่ไม่มีความหมาย (empty adjective) และการใช้อธิพจน์ (hyperbole) หรือการใช้โวหารเกินจริง นอกจากนี้ ยังพบการสร้างคำใหม่ ในการสนทนาของเพศหญิงอีกด้วย ในด้านกลวิธีที่ใช้ในการถ่ายทอดภาษาเพศหญิงให้เป็นภาษาไทยนั้น พบว่าผู้แปลใช้ทั้งการแปลแบบเทียบเคียงตามรูป และการแปลแบบเทียบเคียงต่างรูปโดยใช้กลวิธีการปรับบทแปลทั้งในระดับคำ และระดับประโยค การแปลขยายความ การแปลตีความ และการละไม่แปล

This thesis was a study of female language in three English-subtitled films, Sex and the City: the Movie (2008), Sex and the City 2 (2010), and How To Be Single (2016) with Thai translations. In terms of data categorization, the theories of Robin Lakoff (1975), Mary Ritchie Key (1996), and Julia T. Wood (2011) were employed while those of Eugene Nida (1964) and Sanchawee Saibua (2010) were used for analyzing the translations. Findings of the study showed that the female language features in the original version included vocabulary related to fashion and beauty, cooperative style and minimal reactions, hedging, tag question sentences, intensifying adverbs, empty adjectives, and hyperbole. Moreover, neologism was evident in these three studied films. As for the translation techniques used in the Thai subtitles, both formal-equivalence translation and dynamic-equivalence translation were found. The translator also used adjustment techniques in words and sentences, descriptive translation, interpretative translation and omission.
