dc.description.abstract | Thai folk healers have claimed that ripe fruits of Vitex glabrata (Vg) are a remedy of malnutrition treatment usually associated with intestinal parasitism in children, diabetes, nephron tonic and erectile dysfunction. However, there is no scientific evidence support. The aim of this study is to investigate the phytochemical screening and free radical scavenging activity of the EtOH extract of Vg ripe fruits. The polyphenols, tannins, coumarins, triterpenes, and unsaturated lactone rings compounds were detected in EtOH Vg extract. The total phenolic content in the extract was 36.04±0.12 mg of GAE/g of dry plant material determined by Folin- Ciocalteu method. The DPPH assay showed that the extract had free radical scavenging activity, the IC50 was 346.64±4.48 μg/mL. The thin-layer chromatography (TLC) system was developed using chloroform: acetic acid (85:15) as a solvent system, the TLC chromatogram might be used as plant fingerprint in the future study. | en_US |
