The presence of bacteria in 15 single-rooted teeth with periapical lesions... and 5.25% NaOCl as irrigants. In group 2, after chemomechanical preperation, the root canals were dressed with 2 μl of 40% CMCP. The medicament was replaced on days 3 and 7. In group 3, root canals were treated in a manner similar to those in group 2Publication Metadata only Endodontic therapy in irradiated patient(1990-05-01) S. Timpawat; Mahidol Universityappear so far to be of a nutritional nature. Endodontic procedures should be accomplished with judicious precision and gentle. The tooth should never leave "open for drainage" in an irradiated patient. Shorter lengths during instrumentation of the root... canals would appear to be more desirable than over extended lengths. Canal obturation with gutta percha by means of lateral condensation is effective. This report demonstrated multiple endodontic treatments in two patients after cancericidal radiationItem Metadata only Current Management of Dens Evaginatus Teeth Based on Pulpal Diagnosis(2023-01-01) Lerdrungroj K.; Banomyong D.; Songtrakul K.; Porkaew P.; Nakornchai S.; Mahidol Universityaggregate apexification or regenerative endodontic procedures are the treatment options. For DE teeth with pulpal necrosis and complete root formation, nonsurgical root canal treatment is the treatment of choice. A flow chart of the decision-making... be performed as early as possible by the prep-and-fill technique or the reinforcement technique to preserve tooth vitality and continued root development, with the former reported to be superior compared with the latter. Furthermore, DE teeth with reversibleItem Metadata only Effect of Calcium Hydroxide as an Intracanal Medication on Dentine Fracture Resistance: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis(2024-01-01) Sunlakawit C.; Chaimanakarn C.; Srimaneekarn N.; Osiri S.; Sunlakawit C.; Mahidol UniversityIntroduction: Bacterial infections necessitate effective root canal disinfection during endodontic therapy. Calcium hydroxide (CH), a widely used intracanal medication, shows conflicting effects on dentine fracture resistance in different studies... immature teeth. Results: The search yielded 2,265 studies from all databases, and 27 met the inclusion criteria, involving 3,879 teeth or roots. The overall results from network meta-analysis indicated that CH affected the fracture resistance of humanPublication Open Access Using cone-beam computerized tomography before intiating intentional endodontic treatment.(2011-05) Raweewan Arayasantiparb; Mahidol University. Department of Operative Dentistry and Endodonticsfor mesiobuccal, distobuccal and palatal pulpal horns, respectively. Since the pulpal exposure would occur during crown preparation, intentional endodontic therapy was initiated. Faculty of Dentistry. Department of Oral & Maxillofacial SurgeryObjective: To justify the use of antibiotic prophylaxis in third molar surgery Materials and methods: The search through electronic data base restricted to the previous articles published in English focusing on two keywords ‘third molar surgery’ and ‘antibiotic prophylaxis’ was performed. Randomized controlled trials complied with the inclusion criteria were reviewed and analyzed descriptively. Results: There were 37 randomized controlled trials included in this study. The evaluation demonstrated that there were 50% of the previous studies showed statistically signifi cant difference between use and no use of antibiotics on the reduction of post-operative infection complications. The pre-operative prophylactic antibiotic was more effective than post-operative antibiotics administration in decreasing the undesirable post-operative infection. Conclusion: The antibiotic prophylaxis seems to show effectiveness in reducing post-operative infection by providing pre-operative high-dose antibiotics with two to fi ve days post-operative administration.Publication Open Access Imaging of Infectious Spondylitis(2017) Theeraphol Panyaping; ธีรพล ปัญญาปิง; Mahidol University. Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital. Department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic RadiologyInfectious spondylitis is a common disease and increasing in incidence, which may be a primary spinal infection or secondary to a systemic infection. Because many spinal infections are life-threatening, early diagnosis leads to improved outcomes. Nowadays, imaging plays an important role in the diagnosis and follow up of these potentially life-threatening conditions. MR is the imaging modality of choice for patientswith suspected spinal infection. Common causes of infectious spondylitis that were focus on this review article are pyogenic and tuberculous spondylitis. Pyogenic spondylodiscitis should be considered, when there is increased T2- weighted signal and/or enhancement in the disc and subchondral regions of adjacent vertebral bodies. Spinal epidural and subdural abscesses generally accompany pyogenic spondylodiscitis. MRI is critical in diagnosing both spinal epidural and subdural abscesses, which need to be treated with emergent surgery. Tuberculous spondylitis shows characteristic imaging findings including disc space sparing, subligamentous spread, and large paraspinal abscesses. Fungal spondylitis is a rare disease found in immunocompromised patients and has a nonspecific imaging appearance. Therefore, the diagnosis of infectious spondylitis should be made of radiographic abnormality with clinical correlation. Mahidol University.
