Publication Metadata only Analysis of the expression and antioxidant activity of 2-Cys peroxiredoxin protein in Fasciola gigantica(2014-01-01) Kant Sangpairoj; Narin Changklungmoa; Rapeepun Vanichviriyakit; Prasert Sobhon; Kulathida Chaithirayanon; Mahidol University, moderately expressed in cecal epithelial cells in early, juvenile and adult worms. Furthermore, FgPrxs was also detected in the female reproductive organs, including eggs, ovary, vitelline cells, and testis, suggesting that FgPrxs might play an essential rolePublication Metadata only Spermatogenesis and distinctive mature sperm in the giant freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii (De Man, 1879)(2010-08-01) Jaruwan Poljaroen; Rapeepun Vanichviriyakit; Yotsawan Tinikul; Ittipon Phoungpetchara; Vichai Linthong; Wattana Weerachatyanukul; Prasert Sobhon; Mahidol UniversityThe structures of differentiating male germ cells in the testis of the giant freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii, were studied by light and electron microscopy. Based on ultrastructural characteristics, the developing male germ cellsPublication Metadata only Inhibitory effect of a reproductive-related serpin on sperm trypsin-like activity implicates its role in sperm maturation of Penaeus monodon(2018-03-01) Charoonroj Chotwiwatthanakun; Wanida Santimanawong; Prasert Sobhon; Somjai Wongtripop; Rapeepun Vanichviriyakit; Mahidol University; Burapha University; Shrimp Genetic Improvement Centerloop and fold similarities, identified through three-dimensional modeling, suggested that this gene is a member of the serpin family. The expression of rrPmserpin mRNA was prominent in the reproductive organs, including the testis, vas deferensPublication Metadata only Expression of Penaeus monodon ortholog of Niemann-Pick type C-2 in the spermatic tract, and its role in sperm cholesterol removal(2016-03-01) Charoonroj Chotwiwatthanakun; Jutharat Sangatit; Wanida Santimanawong; Piyaporn Surinlert; Juthatip Prommoon; Wattana Weerachatyanukul; Boonsirm Withyachumnarnkul; Rapeepun Vanichviriyakit; Mahidol University; Shrimp Genetic Improvement Center; Aquatic Animal Biotechnology Research Centeris expressed in many tissues, including the spermatic tract (i.e., testis, vas deferens, terminal ampoule) and the female thelycum. In situ hybridization revealed the presence of Pmnpc2 transcripts in the vas deferens, terminal ampoule, and thelycum epitheliaPublication Metadata only Presence of Penaeus monodon densovirus in the ovary of chronically infected P. monodon subadults(2018-08-14) Sudini Fernando; Pongsopee Attasart; Salin R. Faculty of Science. Department of Chemistry and Center of Excellence for Innovation in ChemistryThe Gravitational split-flow thin cell (GrSPLITT) fractionation is a rapid, gentle and continuous separation technique that should be used to separate spermatogenic cells into three stages: (1) spermatogonia and spermatocyte (2) round spermatids and (3) elongate spermatids and spermatozoa. The different stages of the spermatogenic cells display differences in density and size. In this work, two modes of GrSPLITT namely, full-feed depletion mode (FFD-GrSPLITT) (and transport mode (TS-GrSPLITT) were compared for their possibility to separate the three stages of spermatogenic cells. Imaging and sizing of the original sample and all fractions were analyzed to obtain their size distribution using dark field microscopy with analysis software. The percentage of purity and recovery were calculated and used to objectively compare their separation efficiencies of the two mods of the FFD mode and the TS mode of GrSPLITT fractionations. All experiments showed that the TS-GrSPLITT fractionation trends to be the better separation efficiency than the FFDGrSPLITT fractionation.
