In order to enhance the engagement in the classroom, teachers are encouraged to use contextualized learning material. Contextualized language learning materials containing a familiar context helps learners integrate English into their everyday environment. Therefore, this study has objectives: (1) to enhance learners’ engagement through cultural and contextually familiar learning material and (2) to help learner develop English language learning materials, that are suitably contextualized to foster their engagement. In terms of methodology, participatory pedagogy and project-based learning (PBL) approaches were employed to motivate 42 primary learners to create contextualized English language learning materials in English, Black Tai and Thai for their class using search engine software. The results showed that the authentically engaged learners started to dominate their class towards the end of the semester. For post-project, it was observed that the learners contributed to engage in learning English according to PBL pedagogy.
